Title: System of Prevocational Assessment Centers in the Czech Republic and his functioning in the process of Prevocational Assessment from the perspective of the Occupational therapist Abstract: Prevocational assessment is a process intended for people with disabilities, during this process, the work potential of the client is evaluated for employment purposes. The applicant for this examination can be the Labor Office, the employer or the client himself. The prevocational assessment examination is attended by an interprofessional rehabilitation team, an integral part of this team are doctors, as well as non-medical professions, including an occupational therapist. The prevocational assessment examination is a very important component of the entire prevocational assessment, as it is the most time-consuming part of this examination.The examination takes place in one of thirteen specialized Prevocational Assessment centers in the Czech Republic. All centers must meet personal, substantive and material standards. Conclusions from individual examinations are presented by experts from the team at a case conference. The Role of the Occupational Therapist in the Treatment of Patients with Huntington's Disease Abstract: This thesis is focused on the possible potential of occupational therapy in patients with Huntington's disease, a neurodegenerative brain disease. Currently, Huntington's disease is incurable, but there are some therapeutic methods and approaches which have positive influence on a progress of the disease. Also, early intervention of occupational therapy is needed and the occupational therapist is an irreplaceable specialist as a part of an interdisciplinary team. However, in the Czech Republic there is a little experience with occupational therapy in patients with Huntington's disease. The thesis consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part provides basic information about the condition and by having used specialized foreign literature it also focuses on the opportunities and goals of occupational therapy in patients with Huntington's disease. In the practical part, questionnaires which were distributed among patients and patient care providers were evaluated. Results of the questionnaires provide besides other things a brief outline of patient's problematic areas. BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT Name, Surname: Simona Homolková Supervisor: PhDr. Petra Horsáková Title: Principles for Choosing an Electric Wheelchair for a Person with a Spinal Cord Injury from the Perspective of an Occupational Therapist Abstract: There are not enough sources in the Czech Republic which would summarize this topic, and therefore the main goal of this thesis is the description of the selection process when it comes to an electric wheelchair for people with a spinal cord lesion at the C4-C6 level from an occupational therapy point of view. A subsidiary aim of this thesis is a survey of the Czech market with electric wheelchairs, the selection of several different models suitable for tetraplegics, their assessment by an occupational therapist and recommendations to certain groups of clients. When it comes to the case studies, this theoretical information is applied in the clinical practice. Another partial goal represents a compilation of a form for occupational therapist in the Czech Republic which combines the acquired theoretical and practical knowledge, and further guides them through the process of selecting an electric wheelchair. OF MASTER THESIS Tittle of master thesis: Use of individual types of positioning on patients after stroke in the acute and subacute phase of rehabilitation from the perspective of occupational therapy. Stroke is one of the diseases that most affects the human population. It can result in temporary disability, permanent consequences and death. The patient's positioning after a stroke can affect many risks of secondary changes. The aim of this work is to find out how occupational therapists are involved in the positioning of patients in the acute and subacute phase after a stroke in stroke centers in the Czech Republic and how the positioning in stroke centers takes place. The literature and recommended procedures show that the correct positioning after a stroke in the acute and subacute phase prevents the development of immobilization syndrome and secondary changes. Positioning patients after a stroke can affect muscle tone, shoulder pain, prevent subluxation in the joints, maintain passive and active range in the joints, etc. In patients after a stroke, agitation should occur from the affected side to support the return of sensorimotor functions and to involve the affected parties to activities. Mapping Work of Occupational Therapists in Prevocational Assessment Centers in the Czech Republic

Prevocational assessment is a complex functional assessment of psychosensomotor potential of a person with disability. Prevocational assessment can be part of a vocational rehabilitation provided by the Czech Labour Office as a form of consulting services. Nowadays, thirteen prevocational assessment centres in different regions of the Czech Republic offer this service. Prevocational assessments are made by an interprofessional team. Occupational therapist, as an essential member of this team, examines and tests client's independency during the prevocational assessment. Occupational therapist along with other members of interprofessional team analyses the work potential of a person with disability. Then, based on a complex functional assessment of a person with disability, the final report is written. This report contains description of skills and abilities which can be used by a person with disability while finding, getting and holding a position on the labour market. This report also contains a recommendation for the Czech Labour Office on how to increase client's chances to get a job. Use of orofacial stimulation in occupational therapy

This bachelor thesis aims to design examination and therapy the occupational therapist in the orofacial area of selected adults with a neurological diagnosis. The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the anatomy of the orofacial area and related etiology. It outlines the main problems which in this area may occur. Specifically, salivation and swallowing disorders, muscular disorders and communication problems. It also describes the possibility of examination which the occupational therapist has. Finally, this part deals with methods of intervention. The practical part contains the methodology. It contains my proposal for examination and therapy. Examination, which I proposed, is covering various areas of orofacial complex and consists of five parts. Using this examination, we can define the problem with isolated oral movements, identify changes of organ, assess the degree of salivation, swallowing and speech process. The therapeutic unit is composed of the surface and point massage according to the concept of basal stimulation and of exercises for the lips, cheeks and tongue.
